Markha: The Valley For All Seasons
The rumblings in my stomach The pain in my joints The tan on my skin …are but befitting reminders of the mountains And the passes And the river valleys I ve left behind In my quest for Finding myself ! After the so called “baby” Sham Valley Trek a couple of years ago in Ladakh, this was like a promotion into the real league. A 7 day long camp-at-site trek through an arid cold desert valley, one gets an outstanding view of the 21000 ft Kang Yissay and 20,086ft Stok Kangri peaks. The high point ( literally ) of the trek is the passage through the 5250m high Kongmaru La pass. A trek through winding mountainside, river crossings, lush meadows, intimidating-at-first passes and then the final brutal descent of about 1400 metres through a rocky and uncertain terrain, certainly makes tis for a heady adventure which I heartily recommend to everyone !
