Where the art and the real seamlessly merge ! Once a British trading port and settlement, the city of George Town is located on the north east quarter of Penang Island. Its well and truly a cultural melting pot that bears rich influences from both its former British ties and the influx of immigrants from around the region. Declared as a World Heritage Site, George Town abounds in street murals from artists such as Ernest Zacarevic and others who have contributed to the street art popularity of George Town. Unique and humorous illustrations in the form of iron rod sculptures are also installed against the city’s building walls. This photo essay is the output from a two hour journey through the town in its famous trishaw, creating some self portraits along the way too and gorging on the most delcious Blueberry Cheesecake in the world ! George Town : you truly are any street photographer’s haven !
